Don't exercise for something to do today, exercise for the rest of your life!                                        More physical activity means you can eat more without gaining more pounds                                        Any physical activity that involves an impact, such as walking, running, aerobics, helps to keep calcium in your bones, keeping them stronger for longer.                                         Physical activity releases endorphins - these are the body's natural "feel good" chemicals.                                         You have a better night's sleep when you are regularly active.                                         Physical activity reduces stress and tension, making you a more relaxed person.                                         Your muscles become stronger with more physical activity.                                         Some activities, like climbing a rock wall or BMX racing, can give you a feeling of exhilaration - enjoy the thrill.

I am just returning from foot surgery, so I am taking it slow. I have big goals. I know that I am overweight and have struggled long enough.

I log my miles just before I do them. This gives me confidence, helps me visualize the desired outcome, and puts me at ease during my workout--as if it's already done.

Thank you RunnersWorld Tulsa and TATUR for all your free training throughout the last two years. You have gotten me through my first full marathon and my first 50k train run.

One Million Miles Together

Tulsa Mayor Kathy TaylorWelcome!

As Mayor of Tulsa, I know just how important it is for Tulsans to stay fit and healthy. That’s why we created Tulsa Million Miles: to give you the tools you need to be fit and healthy.

Our goal for Tulsa is to log one million miles, and more! It’s not just about weight loss. It’s about being active for life! I challenge everyone in Tulsa to make fitness and health a top priority in their lives.

Behind Tulsa Million Miles is the driving force of the Mayor's Fitness Challenge, a program uniting 50 partners who are all working toward the goal of helping Tulsans become a "healthy and fit" city.

Being healthy is for everyone! You don't have to run a marathon to achieve a fitter lifestyle -- just get up and get moving.

Join me. Let’s shape up Tulsa, one mile at a time. Together, we can all be fit and healthy for life!

P.S. The numbers are finally in...Tulsa Tough's Ride and Race event, May 29-31 have added 63,323.1 biking miles to our total number of miles, effective July 1. Be sure to add your personal activity miles every day on this site. Also, event coordinators, please notify us of your event miles as soon as possible!
