Training for Susan C. Komen Walk for the Cure event in Chicago. 60 miles in 3 days! Would love to try some local walks first. Any suggestions?

On January 14th I also entered a little contest we are having at my job some what on the lines of the biggest looser. Since then I start every morning with a 20 min. work out and spend my 30 min lunch walking.

Two years ago I had triple bypass surgery. Up to that time I had eaten whatever I wanted whenever I wanted it, and I never exercised. I weighed 290 pounds. The bypass surgery got my attention and I began to watch what I eat and I started walking for at least 30 minutes three times a week. I am now down to 220 pounds with a long term goal fo 175 pounds now in sight. I feel better than I can remember since High School and my health is now better than it has been in years. I am enjoying life again.

I started logging in July and set a goal to walk 500 miles in 6 mo. I reached that goal on 12/30. New goal is 1000 for 2010. Thus far I'm slightly ahead of goal. I need 2.75 miles per day but I'm doing 3, though with this weather most (except for the Resolution Run/Walk has been on the treadmill.

I am training for my first marathon with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society's TeaminTraining. Great to have such a cool site on which to log my miles!
